KABUSHI residents in Ndola have called on civic leaders to hastily work on the poor drainage system in the area.
Miniver Mwandila, a resident said that rain water has massively accumulated in drainages causing floods and feared that if not controlled, the situation may lead to outbreaks of waterborne diseases such as cholera, dysentery, diarrhea among others.
Mr. Mwandila called on the civic leaders in the area to take action to open up water flow because this has also resulted in houses being flooded.
He noted that children have since resorted to playing in the drainages exposing them to water borne diseases.
“We want to see our civic leaders to develop road infrastructure in Kantolomba by putting up good drainages and all weather motorable roads in the area, “said Mr. Mwandila.
Another resident Dorcas Kangwa said she is concerned about poor drainages in the area which she said has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, Kabushi ward Councillor Kennedy Kasaba says his ward has received twenty-five thousand kwacha from the Ward Development Funds for unlocking drainages.
He noted that the works will commence in the next three weeks adding that priority when awarding the contract will be given to Kabushi youths.
Mr. Kasaba has called on the residents to remain calm as his office is working diligently to solve the problems faced in the area.
