Zambian hip-hop artiste Duncan Sodala musically known as Holstar has continued to make waves internationally following the release of his album dubbed “Kupeleka Nyali Ya Moto” which dropped in November 2020.

Just last month, Sodala topped an international chart that also enlisted Australian based Zambian female hip-hop sensation Sampa The Great on New York legend Chuck D’s internet radio platform dubbed And You Don’t Stop Radio.

“Afropolitan”, a track off the album, which features soulful Nigerian singer Maka was responsible for the accolade on the Public Enemy fame’s online radio station.

This time around the rapper’s song entitled “LSK OG”, which is the second track on the 12 song album has been playlisted on the American rap legend Jay-Z owned global streaming music service TIDAL.

Talented Lusaka singer Muzo Zarahni lends her vocals on the Mufulira based Blaq On Da Beat produced record, doing enough to earn the song a spot on an elite lineup of African rappers.

Zarahni’s chorus and Holstar’s verses make a perfect fit in an ode to Lusaka, a song suitable enough to tempt the Miles Sampa-led city council to award Sodala with the status of Freeman of the City.

Fittingly so, the capital anthem blends flawlessly with other songs on the list, making it a lethal combination for music consumers across different cities on the continent and beyond.

The playlist which has been curated by popular Ugandan online platform The Tribe UG, a subsidiary of Kampala based Skyline Media and Management Limited, also features other notable hip-hop giants on the continent.

The Tribe UG has a reputation for exposing Ugandan music to nationals who reside in the diaspora.

Kenyan artiste Khaligraph Jones, Ghana’s Sarkodie and South Africa’s Boity are among African hip-hop greats that have been playlisted by The Tribe UG on TIDAL on the coveted playlist.

Ghana’s Joey B and South Africa’s Blaklez are among other names that round off the star-studded list.

The playlisting of the LSK OG is a huge plus for Zambian music and it is an indication that local musicians are moving with the global trend of artists allowing consumers the world over to stream music on various online platforms.

Holstar’s new album, released under his Slam Dunk Records imprint has enjoyed mainstream success both locally and internationally.

The Kaladoshas assisted “Close To You” peaked at Number 4 on Phoenix FM’s legendary chart show The Local Rhythms Countdown.

The Zone Fam co-founder has been on a consistent run having recently released visuals for “Make It” which features multitalented So Good artist Killa.
