PANGOLIN SCALES LAND 2 IN COURT

TWO men from Zimba have appeared before the Choma Magistrates Court for illegally possessing over 32 Pangolin scales.

Alvin Siatwiko, 41, and Sopa Mikela, 22, are jointly charged with unlawful possession of a protectedaAnimal contrary to the National Parks and Wildlife Act.
Allegations are that the two had in their possession 32 Pangolin Scales without a certificate or licence issued in respect thereof.
The two were apprehended on November 21, in Choma.
When the matter was called for plea by Public Prosecutor Dexter Kwalela, Siatwiko without coercion admitted the charge while Mikela denied any wrong doing.
Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa recorded a plea of guilty for Siatwiko and a plea of not guilty for Mikela.
Siatwiko will appear tomorrow for facts while Mikela will equally appear on the same day for fixing of trial date.
The two were remanded in custody.
