A 23 years old woman found with a Kudu head has appeared in the Choma Magistrates Court to exculpate herself on how she came in possession of the mentioned carcass.
In this matter, Prudence Muleya of Muntuwabulongo Village in Choma is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Government Trophy contrary to the Wildlife and National Parks Act of the Laws of Zambia.
Allegations are that Muleya had in her possession a Head of a Kudu weighing 2.5 Kilograms without a certificate or license issued in respect thereof.
The alleged incident is said to have occurred on November 17 in Choma, and Muleya was apprehended on the very day.
When the matter came up for plea before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, the accused person vehemently denied the charge against her compelling the Court to record a plea of innocent.
Court: Have you understood the charge?
Muleya: Yes.
Court: Do you admit or deny?
Muleya: I deny.
Court: I record a plea of not guilty.
Following a plea of not guilty, the matter was adjourned to December 3 for trial after Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu applied for an adjournment in order to prepare the State’s witnesses.
Muleya’s Police Bond was extended.
