THE Zambia National Women’s National Team have crashed out of the 2020 COSAFA Women’s Championship finals in Port El-zabeth, South Africa while the Under-17 will seek to continue in their winning ways at the weekend.

The Copper Queens went down to Botswana 2 – 1 having previously hoped to bounce back from the previous 1-nil loss to Malawi to re-deem themselves against the stubborn Mares side who were bubbling with confidence.
The Mares were counting on two exports to Zambia, Thanda Onneile Mokgabo and Michelle Abueng who play for Lusaka Province side Yasa Queens to rise to the occasion as they know Zambian Football.
Botswana had two first half goals from Lone Gaofetoge who scored in the eight minute and Refilwe Tholakele in the 39th. Ireen Lungu netted the only goal for Zambia in added time of the first half.
The last time these two sides met was last year at the same championship in South Africa, where they drew 0-0 in the group stages, and again they met in the semi-finals with Zambia running riot over Botswana with a 4-0 score line.
However, South Africa went on to beat Malawi 6 -2 in their semi-final match.
Meanwhile, The Zambia Under-17 Women’s National Team played their fourth and final game of the round-robin stage against Zimba-bwe.
They marked their fourth victory in four games with an impressive 5 – 2 score line.
It was a formality match as the Copper Princesses already qualified to the final which is set for Saturday against East African Guests Tanza-nia.
