Business man locked up for stealing goat

A 21-YEAR- OLD businessman of Choma will serve three months in prison for stealing a Goat worth K350.
In this matter Titus Mudenda was convicted by the Choma Magistrates Court for the offence of Stock Theft Contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that Mudenda stole one Goat valued at K350 the property of Mossy Mweetwa.
The theft occurred on August 21 in Choma district of Southern Province.
When he appeared for plea before Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri, he willingly admitted the charge levelled against him.
Magistrate Phiri convicted Mudenda accordingly after he admitted that the facts read to him by the State were a true reflection of what happened.
Despite being a first offender and remorseful of his actions, the court slapped him with a 3 months simple imprisonment sentence with effect from date of arrest.
Mudenda was informed of his rights to appeal to the High Court within 14 days if he was not happy with the ruling.
