Govt tracking FAZ matters, Veep assures MPs

GOVERNEMNT will soon inform Parliament on the outcome of the investigation going on at the Football Association of Zambia, vice president Inonge Wina has said.

Ms Wina said that government is aware that FAZ general secretary Adrian Kashala is being investigated for fraud by the Drug Enforcement Commission.

She said that government is also aware that on June 11, DEC officers conducted a raid at Football house and that a laptop and a desktop computer belonging to Mr Kashala was confiscated following a search warrant issued by a resident magistrate.

Ms Wina said that football is a popular sport hence government will not want to see the image of FAZ being compromised.

She said that government will update the house on the findings of the investigation involving Mr Kashala once information is availed by DEC.

The Vice President was responding to Muchinga Member of Parliament Howard Kunda who wanted to know if it is true DEC officers conducted a raid at Football House.

“Government is aware that Mr Kashala is being investigated for fraud by DEC,government is also aware that on 11 June an operation was conducted and officers confiscated a laptop for Mr. Kashala following a search warrant by resident magistrate to allow the search,

“Football is a very popular sport in Zambia government will not want to see the image of FAZ being compromised government will inform this august house over the matter once DEC information is availed by DEC,” she said.
