MUSLIM COMMUNITY AVOID MOSQUES

LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes

WE are not resuming prayers at the Mosque just yet until we are sure of the status of Covid-19 in the community Lusaka Muslim Society has said.

Lusaka Muslim Society, chairperson Suleman Patel said Lusaka had massive screening and testing for COVID-19 that was going on to ascertain how many people had the pandemic.

In an interview with The Sun, Mr Patel said that until the testing was over and done with maybe then they could meet.

Mr Patel said he was grateful for President Lungu’s decision that people could meet for prayers as long as they followed the protective measures and the Public Health guideline but as a Society, they were looking at reality.

“We will not resume prayers just yet we are not sure what is happening for now for the next two to three weeks nothing is happening the best is to allow people to pray from their homes,” he said.

Mr Patel said that Covid-19 was something that one could not identify just by looking and therefore it easy to spread in gatherings such as prayers at Mosques, so it was important to take caution.
