Sickle Cell ward gets Zesco women aid

LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes
ZESCO Women at Work (ZWW) committee has donated various items worth K50,000 to the Sickle Cell Ward at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka.
Zesco Limited human resource director Rhoda Mwale said the money that had been used to buy the items was raised through various ventures the women’s committee had embarked on and that the donation included a suction machine, two 32-inch television sets, bed linen and various foodstuffs.
Speaking at the donation Ms Mwale said the gesture was made to complement Government’s efforts in its provision of healthcare services to the public.
“The provision of healthcare services for all Zambians requires a combined approach drawing efforts of various corporation partners,” she said.
Ms Mwale said the team had also taken time to tour the ward and appreciate the hospital facilities and the efforts being made by the health workers.
UTH chief nursing officer Victoria Nthala was grateful to Zesco Women at Work and said the donation would make a significant difference in making the patients stay in the hospital more comfortable.
