Chawama market is no go area for kids

Councillor warns community against exposing children to coronavirus risk

CHILDREN are no longer allowed to roam the streets of Chawama and all the markets in the ward as part of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, Chawama Ward Two councillor Leonard Sikombe has said.

Mr. Sikombe also said that adherence to social distancing and wearing of face masks is mandatory and has been enforced in the market as a coronavirus prevention measures.

He said that no under age children will be allowed in all the markets in the ward.

“We all have a duty to ourselves, to our communities and to the country at large in this fight against Covid 19 and the earlier we start responding and adhering to the interventions and measures being put in place the better and safer it is for all of us.

“The people of Chawama ward two must help me to help them so that we help each in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

He said that market authorities should ensure that people are responding and adhering to the interventions and measures being put in place to fight the pandemic. The councilor commended the cooperation from all marketers for helping in implementing the Social distancing measures and the wearing of face masks in all markets.

“Let us continue holding hands as we battle this pandemic together. His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Dr Edgar Chagwa Lungu, who happens to be a product of Chawama Constituency is with us in this fight and he deserves our total support,” he said.
