A 31-YEAR-OLD man in Nakonde District has committed suicide at a lodge and left a note to his wife and relatives he killed himself because he slept with “another woman”.

The man, identified as Milimo Hakanzaba of Lusaka, reportedly killed himself by drinking doom at Wayimbila guesthouse, where he was discovered lying in the bathroom, while only in boxer pants, and white form mixed with blood from the mouth.

Muchinga Police Commissioner, Joe Njase, confirmed the incident which he said was reported to Nakonde Police Station on Oct.7 by Sarah Nalungwe, 35, of Chiyanga Village, Chief Waitwika, a receptionist at the same lodge. Mr Nyase said Ms Nalungwe told police the victim had booked room No. 22, locked himself from inside, on Oct.5 around 1800 hours, and never came out until October 7 when he is suspected to have killed himself.

Mr Njase explained that when the police rushed to the scene, they found the door to the room locked, quickly dismantled the locking system and found the victim lying dead in the bathroom.

He said further inspection by police, found the victim with no physical injuries but discovered an empty doom bottle, a note and a black pen in the room.

“And a Notebook was found on the table, with a black Pen on it. The note was addressed to his wife, parents and other relatives apologizing that he was sorry for sleeping with another person,” Mr Njase said.    Mr Njase said the note also had contact numbers of his relatives, who have been informed of the incident and that a wallet and a driving license, bearing his names “Milimo Hakanzaba, 31, of Lusaka District” was found.

He said the body was taken to Nakonde Urban Clinic Mortuary awaiting for postmortem and that an inquiry file has been opened.
