STINGY HUSBAND SUED FOR DIVORCE

A WOMAN who has been on separation from her stingy husband for 8 months has sued him for divorce in the Matero Local Court.

Ireene Chisenga, 22 of Lusaka’s Chaisa Township sued her husband Collins Chisenga,32 of Chipata Township wanting to end her marriage to him.

The two who were appearing before magistrate Miyanda Banda got married in 2011 and have two children.

Ireene told the court that Collins was stingy.

“He does not want my relatives at home. I can’t even take food for my mother when I do he shouts at me. He even beats me over food, he does not buy me any clothes. He later went to find a house to rent without me knowing,

“He shifted and left me in the house to pay rentals on my own. When I ask him for children’s school fees he beat me up. I went to my mum’s and I said I wouldn’t go back. He came and said that I should get married elsewhere. He even packs my things and every time we argue he would go outside our house to insult me,” said Ireene”. In defence Collins told the court that they had problems because Ireene was always at her mother’s place.

“She is always at her mother’s place I would never find her at home, when I shout at her she would go tell the mother that I was insulting her that’s how I decided to find a house elsewhere,

“ When I told her to pack  as we would be moving she washed all our beddings and said I would shift alone and she wanted our marriage to end,” he said

He said even Ireene’s mother told him to leave her daughter alone so that she could get married to someone young like her.

“However I managed to take her back and we continued staying together until one time she received a message from a man asking where they would meet,

“I left for work with her phone and the same man called and when I responded he said that my wife was not for me alone. Every time I asked about him she would say that she would leave me,” Collins said Collins said that he found another message in her phone where she was asking the same man for money to find a house to rent. “When I asked her to choose between me and him she said she doesn’t want me and she later shifted after leaving house keys with the neighbors but I still want my wife,” said Collins”

The matter comes up on October 7 for judgment.
