A MAID of Lusaka’s Kasisi has divorced her husband of two years in the Chelstone Local Court on allegations that he ditched her at her parents’ house without proper reasons.

Esther Kakote, 26  who sued her husband Vincent Chola,30, of the same area for divorce said the two got marries in 2017 and have one child.

Kakote told senior local court magistrate Charity Milambo that her husband told her to go to her parents place to visit, and told her father that he wanted her to be with her family until further notice.

“He told me to go and visit my parents without any proper explanation and I have been wondering why he did not tell me any reasons for me to shift to my patents place. I have been waiting for him, but should I wait forever,

“My husband has a girlfriend, and he once brought her to our matrimonial home,” she said.

She said families had tried sitting them down but her husband refused and insisted that he would only be supporting the child and not her.

In defence, Chola said he never suggested that their marriage should end.

“My wife threatens to kill me and said she can then kill herself afterwards. that’s the reason I took her to her father’s house, I am not ready to take her back soon,” he said.

In submission, Kakote said she wanted to withdraw the case and instead the court should reconcile them but Chola refused saying he was not ready for that move.

The Court said love could not be forced on anyone and granted the couple divorce and ordered Chola to compensate his former wife with K5, 000 and that property acquired together should be shared equally.

Chola was also ordered to pay K150 as first installment and K350 every month for child maintenance starting September 27.
