A 36-YEAR-OLD wife in Mwense District, of Luapula Province, has been beaten to death by her husband after he found her drunk.
Jessie Mwape, of Kapakala East area, reportedly died from the deep cuts she sustained on her head, legs, and arms her husband, Daniel Kabaso, inflicted on her upon finding her in a very drunken state.
Acting police spokesperson, Danny Mwale, confirmed the incident which happened yesterday around 01:00 hours, and said the suspect was on the run and police were vigorously pursuing him.
Mr Mwale said police visited the murder scene and found Ms Mwape’s body with cuts on the head, legs, and arms.
“It is alleged that the incident happened when the husband, identified as Daniel Kabaso, found his wife very drunk,” Mr Mwale said.
He said Ms Mwape’s body was deposited in the Mwense District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
And police in Lusaka are holding a 35-year-old man, identified as Chipo Sikazwe, of Yellow Shop in Makeni Villa, over the death of his 27-year-old wife identified as Mercy Banda.
Mr Mwale said preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had a fight on Saturday around 07:00 hours.
He said the husband is reported to have only discovered that his wife was dead around 18:00 hours after he knocked off from work.
Mr Mwale said Ms Banda’s body was in the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary awaiting postmortem.
