MAFINGA FARMERS TO BE PUT ON FISP

GOVERNMENT has targeted to place 8,387 farmers in Mafinga District on the Farmer Support Input Program (FSIP) for 2019-2020 farming season, says Muchinga Province minister Malozo Sichone.

Mr Malozo said this in Muyombe yesterday when he officiated at Vinkakanimba Tradition ceremony of the Tumbaka speaking people of Muyombe.

He praised   Mafinga Community for a bumper crop harvest in the last farming season that many districts were currently buying maize from it.

The Minister said seeds inputs from SEEDCO were already in the district that could help them to grow more food.

He however informed the people that gathered at Vinkakanimba ceremony that government was not going to send any relief maize to Mafinga District because it had enough maize stocks.

Mr Malozo further advise the community  not to sell all their maize but should reserve some for consumption to avert hunger  among their household.

He also assured the small-scale farmer in Mafinga that   Government through Ministry of Agriculture would not use e-Voucher system for all 8,387 farmers in the district.

Mafinga District is one of the areas that was not affected by the drought that hit many parts of Zambia.-ZANIS
