BARCLAYS Bank Zambia PLC says it is committed to adding value to communities by promoting good health through aerobics as a fight against cancer.
Speaking during aerobics, organized by the Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation, at the Novare Pinnacle Shopping Mall in Lusaka at the weekend, Bank Managing Director Mizinga Melu said she introduced the wellness agenda in the bank, a few months ago, as a way of encouraging fitness and health.
Melu said the Bank has also contributed K55, 000 towards the organisation and logistics of the event and that the proceeds would go towards supporting the cancer foundation transit home.
She said the exercise would also raise funds for the Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation to it care for children affected by the disease.
She said the programme has been stretched to include monthly activities with other companies in the public and private sector.
She said the bank was committed to adding value to various communities through partnering with organisations that shared a similar passion.
She said last year, the bank announced the group name change from Barclays Africa Group Limited to Absa Group Limited and that it will also be changing its operating name to Absa Bank by February, 2020.
And Bank of Zambia Deputy Governor Administration, Dr Tukiya Kankasa-Mabula, who is also Kayula Childhood Cancer Foundation board member, said the Foundation needed more well-wishers as it needed more financial support to help it fight cancer.
