THE Zambia Under-23 national team wound up its weekly camp with double victory over a Chawama select side that it thumped 13-0 on Wednesday.

Conlyde Luchanga showed flashes of what brought him in the limelight of national colours by scoring a brace in the first set which ended 7-0 and a hat-trick in the second fixture.

Power Dynamos’ Kingsley Mukuka also scored twice with Clinton Lubula and Bernard Kumwenda contributing a goal apiece while the seventh goal was an own goal.

In the second match which saw Chawama select field a completely different team there was no stopping Luchanga who scored a hat-trick with Lubula, Musonda Siame and Mukuka contributing a goal each.

Coach Beston Chambeshi had lined up a front-line comprising Luchanga, Mukuka, and Lubula in the first set while Twiza Chaibela led the attack in the second set supported by Prince Mumba and Harrison Chisala.

Kumwenda was also brought in to swap roles with Luchanga.

The Chambeshi-drilled side comprising of locals, has been preparing for the September 4 Egypt 2019 AfCON final round qualifiers against Congo Brazzaville to be staged at National Heroes Stadium at 18:00 hours.

The return leg will be held four days later in Pointe Noire, Congo Brazzaville, with the winner qualifying to the tournament.

Top three teams at the tournament will qualify to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Chambeshi has excused players from clubs competing in continental matches and also foreign based players who were expected to trickle in on August 30.

The team has broken camp and will regroup on Sunday for the final stretch.

According to FAZ, tickets for the September 4 clash were already selling across Shoprite outlets via Computicket.
