Bus conductor fined K7, 000 for ‘damaging’ a girl

LUCY PHIRI writes

A 22YEAR OLD bus conductor of Lusaka’s Ng’ombe Township has been slapped with a K7, 000 fine by the Chelstone Local Court for impregnating a girl.

Dennis Siamashundu was sued by Alice Phiri, 38 a business woman of the same area for impregnating her daughter.

Phiri told Presiding magistrate Mary Namangala that Siamashundu impregnated her daughter in 2018.

“He did not even come to see the baby when it was born. I want him to give me K10, 000 for damage because he said he cannot marry my daughter as he is a married man,” she said.

In defence, Siamashundu said he could not manage to pay K10,000 because of the nature of his job.

“I am married, of which I told her when proposing to her and she continued to go out with me instead,” he said.

Court found out that Siamashundu was unfaithful to his wife and he lied to his girlfriend that he was single.

He was ordered to pay Phiri K7,000 with K1,000  as first installment starting September month end and K300 thereafter.
