CIVIL servants in Siavonga have been told to support the government policy on fish farming or risk being disciplined.
Siavonga district commissioner Lovemore Kanyama, warned in a statement that he would discipline individuals or departments that would work against the government policy.
He explained the president of Zambia had on several occasions and platforms called on civil servants to support fish farming industries as it would create hundreds of job opportunities.
Mr Kanyama discouraged the idea of the collecting any fish taxes or levies as a way to involve more companies to get engaged cordially.
He said unnecessary taxes would scare away companies and lead to jobs losses, causing even those intending to invest in the booming industry not to participate.
“ It is for this reason that I am encouraging civil servants to support the booming fish farming industry as it will generate and create more jobs for all in the future,” he said
He appealed to the local authority to take advantage of the many ways that the districts could generate revenues and not just concentrate on the already existing sources in an effort to widen the nets in income generation
