ACC SHOULD NAME THIEVING OFFICIAL BEHIND SEIZED 48 FLATS

WHILE it is good that our Anti- Corruption Commission has confirmed seizing 48 units of flats belonging to a Ministry of Finance official alleged to be proceeds of crime, it still makes the controlling officers half-baked.

“We wish to state that the Commission has been investigating allegations of possession of property reasonably suspected of being proceeds of crime against a Ministry of Finance official in Lusaka,” ACC Spokesman Timothy Moono said.

I have a problem with this issue because there were those controlling finances for this man to accumulate such wealth when some clinics and hospitals have inadequate drug levels.

And this nincompoop was easily helping himself to taxpayers’ money and building those 48 flats in Chalala area, off Shantumbu Road, Lusaka.

Even if the properties have since been forfeited to the State pursuant to the Anti- Corruption Commission (Disposal of Recovered Property) Regulations, it does not help much to stop these chaps from stealing what does not belong to them.

Another issue, why is the ACC protecting the identity of the scumbag?

Please quickly expose the thief. Why are you exposing the proceedings of the crime and not the criminal?

If the case is under investigation then don’t seize those flats. The fact that they’ve been seized, it means that the investigations are done, so why hide the identity of the person(s) behind?
