FORMER Zambia national soccer team striker Boyd Mwila says he has decided to venture into football administration to drill young football players from Lusaka’s surrounding communities.
Mwila who is now Chiparamba Soccer Academy managing director said he had decided to give back to the academy he played for before going to Europe.
A product of Chiparamba, Mwila told the Sun Sport in an interview that he had decided to go back to Chiparamba and help young children from the townships.
He said that the academy had continued to produce many players and contributing to the nurturing of talent for future national team players.
He said his academy which he also played for in the early 2000s had produced great talents such former and current national team players Clifford Mulenga, William Njobvu and Justine Zulu.
Mwila noted that some of its former players had gone on to become top executives as well as occupying management positions in soccer clubs.
He said that the academy had now partnered with various schools around Lusaka’s townships to enroll some of their players.
“We are not only venturing into soccer but also education for our small boys and girls who we enroll in school, as we let them do school in the morning then later come here for training in the afternoon,
“We have also started our own school which will see our players combine school with soccer but in the meantime we have partnered with Chitukuko School in Mtendere which is near this place,” he said
Mwila said Chiparamba catered for players in communities such as Mtendere, Kalingalinga, Ng’ombe, Kaunda Square and other surrounding areas.
Mwila who played for Chipolopolo between 2003 and 2010 also enjoyed a 13-year playing stint in Sweden with various clubs such as, FC Trollhättan, Örgryte, Djurgården and FC Trollhättan before returning back home in 2017.
He has now also partnered with various Zambian teams where he facilitates transfers for players to Swedish clubs.
