ZAMBIA national soccer team assistant coach Numba Mumamba says Larry Bwalya and Kelvin Mubanga are important to his team.

Mumamba said after Monday’s training session that the inclusion of the duo would add depth to the squad as it prepared for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tie against Botswana.

He said with the high turn-over of players who had left the local clubs to join foreign ones making them ineligible to play, there was need to add more players to his squad.

ā€œWe are looking at some players who have left to play abroad. That is why we thought of bringing Kelvin (Kampamba) and Larry (Bwalya),” he said.

Mumamba said he had roped in the two because they were good players who could strengthen the team.

The former national striker expressed delight at the 100 percent turnout of the players summoned for duty.

ā€œWe have a full house. We are very happy that everyone has reported,” he said.

ā€œWe have called a few more players just to have a wider selection so that we have the best possible players to represent Mother Zambia.ā€

The team will be away in Botswana on July 26 before hosting the Zebras at National Heroes Stadium on August 3 in the return leg.

Winners over two legs will play either Angola or Eswatini in the final qualifying round for the Cameroon 2020 CHAN.

Mumamba has been drilling the team in the absence on interim head coach Aggrey Chiyangi who is on club duty in Kigali for the CECAFA Club championships.
