Access Bank Zambia launches mobile app

BUUMBA CHIMBULU writes

ACCESS Bank Zambia has launched a mobile app to enhance the adoption of digital financial services in the country.

Bank’s board chairman, Caleb Mulenga, said the Access Mobile App was among the many initiatives introduced on the market to drive the digital services agenda.

Mr Mulenga explained that the app was also aimed at improving outreach and adoption of digital financial services in Zambia.

He said this during the launch of the product and the official unveiling of the rebranding of the bank in Lusaka this week.

“Today we also launch another digital platform-Access Mobile App, a platform that empowers our customers with flexibility and convenience,

“The introduction of this platform demonstrates the bank’s commitment to invest in more digital channels that directly speaks to the national financial inclusion strategy,” Mr Mulenga said.

Meanwhile, the bank has rebranding its identity in Zambia as a way of enhancing its retail banking platform.

The rebranding follows a successful merger between Access Bank plc and Diamond Bank plc of Nigeria in April this year.

Commenting on this, Mr Mulenga explained that the rebranding would spearhead the expansion of retail banking in the country.

Mr Mulenga explained that the merger would benefit Zambia due to skills transfer.

“This is going to be very beneficial to Zambia. Diamond Bank was much stronger in retail business and original access plc was very strong in corporate banking so both sides are bringing something on the table.

“Here in Zambia we want to increase on our retail footprint and we believe the skills level from Diamond bank will enhance what we want to achieve,” Mr Mulenga said.
