Good road network cheers Kabangwe residents

UPGRADING of  the road leading to Shifwakula clinic and the only secondary school in Kabangwe has continued to receive praise from the residents of the area.

One of the residents Boniface Kabulwe said since inception that was the first time the area was having a tarmac road leading to the clinic.

“You know this place has developed, more houses have been built meaning that more people have settled in the area, but unfortunately since independence we have never had a proper road network in the area resulting in us residents repairing our vehicles every time, like replacing shocks because of bad road network, this is the first time we are having one.

“We are very happy as residents that we finally have a road leading to the clinic which services a lot of people because it is the only clinic we have,” he said.

Mr Kabulwe however expressed concern over some houses that had been built too close the road.

He said residents should avoid settling too close the road and  consider future development.

Another resident Daniel Banda said the construction of the road had resulted in buses reaching peoples’ door steps.

He said before the road was constructed, residents used to walk long distances to Kabwe Road to access bus services but with the upgrading of the roads, buses were now following commuters on their door steps.

Mr Banda further commended government through the ministry of health for putting up a mother’s shelter and a maternity wing at the clinic.

He said for a long time expectant mothers were forced to walk more than 10 kilometers to access maternity services at either Matero or Chipata clinics.

“But that this will be a thing of the past, as government has constructed a maternity ward and a mother’s shelter at the only clinic in the area,” Mr Banda said

Area councilor Kayula Kambani said the more than 4 kilometers of Shifwakula Road has been completed to join Pre-Cem Road.
