Eagles for Kagame Cup

LEAGUE contenders Green Eagles have confirmed participation in the forthcoming Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Kagame Cup 2019 slated for July 6 in Kigali, Rwanda.

Eagles media officer, Faith Kaira confirmed the development to the Sun sport and saying the Choma based side was looking forward to the tournament.

She said the team had been invited for the tournament for the first time would participate as invited guests.

“Yes I can confirm that we have been invited to take part in the CECAFA cup to held in Rwanda next month,

“According to our invitation, we are supposed to be in Kigali on July 4 because we are supposed to attend a meeting ahead of the tournament which starts on July 6,” said Kaira

She said that the tournament would help Eagles prepare for the African Champions League which was also scheduled to start next month.

Eagles will join the reigning Rwandan Champions and one-time CECAFA Kagame Cup winners Rayon Sports FC and Congo’s TP Mazembe among other teams.

Winners of the annual tournament will go home with $30, 000 while runners-up will pocket $20, 000 with the third placed team getting $10, 000.
