A -31-YEAR OLD woman of Chama District and her baby have been killed by a crocodile on Luangwa River.
Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Joel Njase said the incident happened when a woman with her child on the back went to draw water in Luangwa River in Zoole village of Chama district.
“Police received a phone call from Nedson Kumwenda of Zoole village informing hem a Ms Ketty Mukulama, 31 and her baby Lackson Kaire Junior aged 1yr and 1 month who was on her back and both of the same address have been killed by a crocodile when she went to draw water from Luangwa River, ’’Mr Njase said.
He said the incident happened on Monday around 17:00 hours at Luangwa river in Chama.
Mr Njase said the remains of the two deceased persons have not yet been recovered from the scene.
Mr Njase said the scene has not yet been visited and that offices from the Department of wildlife and national parks (DNPWL) have since been informed.
