IN AN effort to ensure that they conduct their business in a clean and healthy environment and in line with the ‘Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy campaign, Manda Hill Shopping Mall management cleaned the complex’s surroundings in Lusaka.
General manager Frazer Mulenga said in an interview management realised that the environment around the upmarket mall needed constant cleaning.
A check by the Sun found a team of management officials cleaning the surroundings on Saturday morning.
Mr Mulenga said his team felt it necessary to look after the environment properly, not just on the last Saturday of the month but more often.
He said the exercise should be an ongoing one that required the full participation of everyone in the company to ensure that the surroundings were clean.
“We want to make sure that our surroundings are clean and that we do not pose a health risk to our patrons who shop at Manda Hill,” Mr Mulenga said.
He urged owners of shopping malls to realise that cleanliness should be an ongoing activity that should not start and end with the day declared by Government as the cleaning day.
Mr Mulenga said it was important people to live in a clean environment to ensure that the surroundings were free from diseases.
He said it was important to ensure that people from all walks of life led healthy and long lives.
