Local boxers praised

LOCAL boxers who represented Zambia at the just ended international boxing championship in Zimbabwe have been highly praised by Intercity Boxing Academy director Mabvuto Tembo.

Tembo said that the boxers represented Zambia diligently despite the Academy being only a month old.

He reaffirmed Intercity Boxing Academy’s commitment to changing the lives of youths through boxing.

Tembo said that the stable was determined to produce champions who would raise Zambia’s flag at major tournaments.

“We are not discouraged with the performance of our boxers. We are only a month old and one of our boxers fought his debut professional fight which he won and that was encouraging on our part,

“We will continue working hard as a Intercity Boxing Academy because our aim is to produce champions and changing the lives of talented youths in our society,” Tembo said.

He hailed Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy for inviting the Zambian boxers for the crucial boxing championship which saw the former

Manyuchi, the WBC Silver welterweight champion scooped the Global Boxing Union title after he knocked out Pablo Acosta from Argentina.

Zambian boxers impressed people in Zimbabwe with one boxer recording a technical knockout.

Intercity Boxing Academy contributed three competitors and produced one triumphant boxer, Hillary Kataya who defeated Aliya Phiri from Manyuchi Boxing academy on  unanimous points decision.

Exodus Boxing Academy’s Simon “Hitman” Ngoma knocked out Patson Mutengwa from Zimbabwe in the third round while Lina Kasweka defeated Zvikomborero Dadzwa from Zimbabwe on unanimous decision.

Alice the classic Dall Mbewe defeated Fortune China from Zimbabwe on unanimous points decision while Exodus Boxing Academy Manager Antony Mwamba was appointed as a representative of the Global Boxing Union in Africa.
