Solwezi police nab 3 suspect thieves

ā€¦and recover stolen household goods worth thousands of Kwacha

POLICE in Solwezi have apprehended three suspects and recovered an assortment household goods that had been stolen in the first quarter of the year, says commissioner of Police Hudson Namachila.

Mr Namachila said the police had been tipped that some individuals in Humphrey Mulemba Compound were keeping property believed to have been stolen.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Namachila said 25 household goods had been recovered after a search was made, adding that all except 5 had not been claimed.

ā€œA 42 inch LG TV, 32 inch Hisense TV, 21 inch Philips TV, 2 gents mountain bicycles, 2 generators, 2 big speakers, 2 plastic chairs, 1 Defy deep freezer, 1 Hisense upright fridge, 1 black four plate stove, 1 heavy duty battery, 1 Jack, water pump, 4 DVD players and 1 microwave cooker were some of the items recovered by my men,

ā€œ1 GoTV decoder, 1 industrial cutter, 7 Samsung monitors, 2 HP computers with accessories and 1 black fan but the black stereo radio with 2 sound speakers, 1 28 inches Samsung plasma, 2 GoTV decoders, 1 solar module panel and 2 solar batteries still remain un identifiedā€, said Mr Namachila.

The commissioner said the public should not hesitate to report to police when they see a person selling items that looked stolen.

Mr Namachila urged members of the public to remain vigilant for thieves had a tendency of stealing at night, especially at weekends because residents went out or church and other engagements.

ā€œThe public should inform the police if they notice any stranger roaming around their area or anyone selling goods suspected to have been stolen. I would like to urge the community members that reported for lost household goods to come through and identify their properties,ā€ he said.
