Saturday’s Derby left the magnificent Kabwe Warriors side’s title aspiration on hold after their nil all week 17 draw against town mates Prison Leopards at Godfrey Ucar Chitalu in Kabwe.
Warriors went into this game needing a win against town mates, Leopards who they share a stadium with but instead a stalemate is what the Prisoners handed Warriors.
A win for Warriors would have pushed the Kabwe giants to 33 points on the log further enhance their title aspirations to team that has not played continental football in decades.
A draw to Prison Leopards has left Warriors with unsurmountable task of beating Red Arrows who too are holding on a thread for a continental slot.
Arrows are in fourth position with 30 points on the log and also stand a chance of scooping a continental slot following an impressive record in the 2019 transitional league season.
Going into Saturday’s week 18 tie breaker, both Warriors and Arrows will be needing nothing short of a win if any of the side are to actualize their continental aspirations.
Warriors are still the only unbeaten side in the log after 17 round of matches and will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run and making it in either the CAF champion’s league or confederations Cup.
The Kabwe based league giants have recorded 10 draws and 7 wins out of their 17 games played so far making them the team with the highest number of draws in both streams of the transitional league.
