A FORMER Chasefu soccer enthusiast Chanoda Ngwira, has donated 10 footballs to a number of local soccer teams in what he says is giving back to the community he lived in for decades.

Chasefu is a newly created district of Eastern Province that was created in 2018.

Ngwira donated the footballs worth K4, 500 to several local soccer teams on May 11.

Ngwira, 35, a Lusaka-based businessman said he wanted to give back to the community he grew up from.

In an interview, Ngwira said he decided to donate the balls soccer after realizing the challenges the soccer teams faced.

“I have donated footballs to about 8 teams in Chasefu constituency where I come from. Basically, this is to try in a smaller way to make people more especially youths have something to do in order to avoid being involved in bad vices,” Ngwira said.

Ngwira praised the teams for their contribution to the community both on and off the pitch and assured them of his unwavering support.

Meanwhile, Ngwira has also disclosed that he intended to offer scholarships to under privileged pupils as well as promoting choir competitions across denominations.

“The entire sponsorship for the choir competition is about K15, 000 to cover all denominations. I started with the Church of Central African Presbyterian (CCAP) but I intend to cover all church denominations,

“I have also started the sponsoring underprivileged pupils by paying their school fees in full,” said Ngwira

And a local football association representative, Jabulani Mtonga who received the donations on behalf of the teams thanked Ngwira for the gesture.

“We are so thankful to Ngwira for this wonderful donation, it will indeed go a long way in helping the teams succeed,” Mtonga said.
