THE only computer at Munyama Day Secondary School in Kabwe that the pupils were using for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lessons has been stolen.
The school located in Mumyama Ward which is in the outskirts of the town in Bwacha Constituency has only one computer against a population of over 600 pupils.
Munyama Ward Councillor Gregory Mukungu said since the only computer was stolen, the school no longer conducted any computer lessons.
Speaking in an interview Mr Makungu said the theft had been reported to prospect police station.
The school was waiting for a feedback from police.
He, however, feared that examinations earmarked for next month would be greatly affected if the computer was not recovered in time.
Mr Makungu appealed to the corporate world to come to the aid of the school so that computer lessons and the forthcoming examinations are not affected.
“As we are speaking right now we don’t have any computer lessons taking place at the school and we have exams coming in June. My earnest appeal is to the corporate world to come to the aid of the school so that lessons are not affected,” Mr Makungu said.
He said the theft was reported to Prospect police station.
Mr Makungu said the district education board secretary (DEBS)’s office and that of the member of Parliament (MP), Sydney Mushanga, had been informed.
He was hopeful that the DEBS and MPs office would soon intervene in the matter so that pupils were able to consolidate their studies and have revisions between now and June.
