2 Kabwe men admit stealing motor vehicle engine

KETRA KALUNGA writes

TWO men of Kabwe’s Makululu compound have pleaded guilty in the Kabwe Magistrates Court to stealing a motor vehicle engine valued at K20, 000 belonging to Mr Felix Moya.

Felix Bango 24 and Diamond Muleya, 19 admitted one count of theft before Magistrate Sebastian Mwenya.

Facts are that on  May 5, Bango and Muleya stole a motor vehicle engine property of Mr Moya.

When Magistrate Mwenya asked the two why they had stolen the engine, they both told the court that they thought it was damaged and took it to be sold to scrap metal dealers.

Magistrate Mwenya then asked the state prosecutor if the engine was present before his court to which he was informed that it was still being held at Kasanda police station where the matter was reported.

He advised that in cases of that nature it was important that he saw the property in question because it affected the sentence of the accused.

Magistrate Mwenya explained that this was so because the property in question which the two has stolen might be a complete damage or not.

The matter comes up today for producing of statement of facts and sentencing.
