NOEL IYOMBWA writes

RESIDENTS of Chazanga compound yesterday morning woke up to a rude shock after they discovered a decomposed body of a local businessman who had locked himself in his shop situated at Chalo Bantu bus station.

The bizarre discovery was confirmed by   Mpulungu ward resident Shadreck Lungu.

Mr Lungu told the Sun that Mr Allen Malenje was found dead by members of public following a foul smell which was coming from his shop.

He explained that Mr Malenje used to sleep in his shop but he had not been seen in the past three days which raised alarm among the people who knew him.

Mr Malenje’s sister in-law Loveness Namusukuma explained that she was told by some people that Allen had been missing from his shop and that his lifeless body had been found in his shop where had locked himself up.

She rushed to the scene and after the door was unlocked they found the body of Mr Malenje.

Ms Namusukuma also confirmed that her brother-in-law used to sleep in his shop sometimes hence when he went missing, the family quickly rushed to the shop to check on him.

She said that the last time she met Mr Malenje, he was in good health and appealed to police to thoroughly investigate the cause of his death.

It is not yet known if he committed suicide as the body was found lying on the floor in a decomposed state with some groceries on top.

Police officers from Emmasdale police only managed to collect the body around 10.00 hours despite being informed about two hours earlier.

Meanwhile Mr Lungu has complained over a high crime rate in the area and accused officers at Chazanga police post of not doing much to contain the situation.

He said despite the area having three police posts at North Gate Chazanga and Kabanana, crime levels remained high.
