MA PLOT YOUTHS TAKE TO DRUGS

LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes

DRUG abuse among youth in Chilenje’s Ma Plot compound has raised concerns among the residents.

The residents said they feared that many young people’s lives were being destroyed because of drugs and called for control to curb the vice.

In an interview with the Sun some residents who refused to be identified for fear of been attacked by gangs in the area complained that Ma Plot was not safe anymore and the youths were openly smoking and selling drugs such as marijuana.

“As the mothers of Ma Plot compound in Chilenje we have a lot of youths who are on drugs. We see these lives being wasted every day because apart from that, there is also a lot of beer drinking by the youths,

“Our children are failing to go to school because they mix with very bad company and are taught all sought bad behaviors,” they said.

They also complained that when the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) visited Ma Plot many times they chased the suspects with guns which traumatized small children.

The residents appealed to government to look into the matter urgently because the lives of young people were being destroyed fast.

“We are appealing to government that this new generation must be saved and they should not be in the habit of drug abuse because this generation will be destroyed too,” they said.
