FAZ will only start attracting a high turnover of corporate sponsorship once results on the pitch improve, observes a soccer analyst.
Speaking when he featured on Millennium Radio’s ‘talk at six programme’, soccer analyst Mumbo Lombe said that FAZ had not been performing well financially because results had not been impressive from the national team.
He said that the poor performance by the national team would always affect the good will from prospective corporate sponsors.
“You’ve not performed very well financially and you miss AfCON back to back , it could be the first time we are missing AfCON twice and this means there is a problem.
“Trust me, the moment you perform better even before you go to look for a sponsor , someone will come knocking on your door saying they are ready to dress up the national team when they are travelling or warming up, or indeed a billboard on a particular stadium,’’ said Lombe
He insisted that poor performance on the pitch would always affect the good from potential investors ready to help FAZ.
Lombe however praised MTN and MultiChoice for what he termed as being all-weather friends by investing in Zambian football and increasing the sponsorship money this year.
