Widow sues man over K500, begs him to stop ‘unnatural’ attacks

A Sixty-two year old man of Chief Mulonga’s area, in Mushindamo district of North-Western Province, has been accused of scaring nurses and teachers into leaving because of practicing witchcraft.

 This was in matter in which   Rose Bobo had sued Mr. Jones Mukokola in the Solwezi local court over a K500 credit and shocked the court by demanding the man stops unnatural attacks on her family.

Appearing before presiding Magistrate Davis Kyanuwela, sitting with Magistrate Jonathan Maluti, Ms. Bobo said Mr. Mukokola tormented her in hersleep every time she asked him about the money.

She accused the defendant of being a  wizard because he was allegedly mentioned at a community meeting as the person responsible for scaring some teachers and nurses into leaving the chiefdom.

“He ran away when the chief ordered that we visit a witch finder to find out if he practiced witchcraft. I still see him in my dreams tormenting me every time I ask for my money,” she stated.

 The court adjourned the case to February 27, for judgment.
