A LUSAKA woman has asked the Kanyama local court to end her marriage on allegation that her husband is fond of reporting their marital problems to his mother.
This is in a matter in which Gabriel Musowe, 32, a Tile fitter of was sued by his wife Evelyn Mushamba, 31, of 11 years of the same locality for reporting to his mother every time the couple had a difference.
The two have been married since 2008 and have 3 children together.
Mushamba told Magistrate Mubukwanu Matakala that her husband was in the bad habit of reporting to his mother every time they had difference, adding that ahis mother always sided with him.
“Tika yambana nangu nikang’ono bwanji ba muna banga bama tamangila kunena kuli bamaibabo elo ba mai babo bama mvela che side imodzi.
“Every time we fight no matter how small the issue my husband always takes issues to my mother-in-law who usually supports her son,” said Mushamba
She complained how sometimes her husband had affairs with other women to make her leave him.
“My husband can cheat on me and even if I report to my mother in law she never does anything to make him stop, my husband takes advantage of mistreating me because we are living in his mother’s house,
“Even when he gets sick I’m not allowed to visit him at the hospital by his mother, I’m tired and I want the marriage to end,” Mushamba said.
In his defence, Musowe denied ever cheating or reporting his wife to his mother every time they had an argument.
“My wife is very arrogant towards me and my mother, in fact she has slapped my mother twice before even neighbors know about her rude behavior. Despite all this I love her and I want us to raise our children together,” Musowe said.
Magistrate Matakala ruled that the marriage should end after hearing from both parents of the couple who testified that indeed the couple had serious problems and if they continued to stay married they may kill each other.
The court also ordered Musowe to compensate Mushamba with K7, 000 which will be paid at the end of every month and advised parents from both sides to ensure the two shared whatever property they bought together equally.
The court further ordered Musowe to take care of all the children needs.
