NAIROBI – A woman has landed in trouble for storming into a church and scalding her husband’s lover.
Selina Lokina Akali, is alleged to have stormed Gilgal Fellowship Church on February 3, armed with hot tea, which she poured on Alice Makokha’s face, leaving her with serious injuries on the face and neck.
The court heard that Akali had warned Alice to keep off her marriage and the two had been summoned by church elders and their matter discussed sometimes back.
On the fateful day, according to police records, Akali had an argument with her husband in the morning before she proceeded to the church.
She arrived in church, sat behind Makokha and during the sermon, she removed a thermos flask from her bag, which had hot tea and poured it on Makokha.
This led to commotion in the church as the complainant who was praying, screamed for help, having sustained injuries on her face, breasts and neck.
Akali was accosted by church members who reported the matter to the police.
Makokha was rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment.
In court, Akali denied the charges and was released on Sh100, 000 cash bail.The matter shall be mentioned on February 22.-SDE
