Male modeling in Zambia is slowly being recognized and if supported, it will bring greater opportunities in future, says Zambia’s budding male mode Nicholas Njovu – professionally known as Nicholas Brown.

Njovu who takes modeling as his full-time job alongside being a businessman and fashion consultant says it is pleasing that Zambia is now seeing many males joining the modeling industry a thing he says gives him hope about the future.

“It was very rare to find male models in the previous years but I am so encouraged to see many males coming on board. I am fully involved in it and I believe all we need as male models is support and motivation. This is a great industry that can bring lots of success,” he said while sharing his experience as a male model.

“I wish to promote this industry by working hand in hand with the media houses, fashion designers and photographers to create more opportunities and jobs because this industry has a great future.”

Njovu is one of the few male models that have taken the trade seriously and he boasts of a number of achievements.

“I am basically a runaway model and I have done a lot of things to promote modeling and show the public that men can also make a difference in this field. I participated in the 2017 Lusaka July runway show, was also part of the Pink Gala Runaway , Bwana Dee Fashion Show and Dress Up Zambia Runaway Show to mention only a few,” he said insisting that in all this, he has noticed the need to have more males fully involved.

Inspired by the industry greats like SphiweBenasho, Alice Rowland Musukwa, Naomi Campbell and Tyson Beckford, Njovu wants to encourage more men to join the trade.

“ I would like to encourage my fellow male models to first know more about the modeling industry before pursuing it and never give up once in it. This industry requires a strong attitude, commitment, confidence and hard work,” advises Njovu.
