Why go to n’cwala if i won’t see big breasts – Kabimba

The decision to ban bare breasts at the N’cwala traditional ceremony is only how we erode our culture, so why should people go to N’cwala if I don’t go and see big breasts, you can keep the N’cwala! says Rainbow Party General Secretary Wynter Kabimba.

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni speaking people of Eastern province has banned the display of breasts by women at this year’s Nc’wala traditional ceremony which will take place on February, 23.

But Mr. Kabimba wondered why Zambians should allow to be dictated as to how their cultural values should be by outsiders especially by some Non-Governmental Organisations NGO.

Speaking when he featured on Millennium Radio interview program yesterday, Mr. Kabimba said some NGOs protested to Chieftainess Nkomenshya in Chongwe against bare breasts virgins dancing during the Chakwela Makumbi traditional ceremony.

“This is how we erode our culture, in fact in Chongwe during the Chakwela Makumbi traditional ceremony, there were mooyes (virgins) that used to dance bare breast, some NGOs went to Chieftainess Nkomeshya to protest and she yielded, now we have moved to N’cwala” Mr. Kabimba said.

He explained that even in South Africa, search engine Google blacked out the reed dance practiced in Swaziland under claims that this was contrary to Google community it was protecting when this was African culture.

He wondered what would be more offensive between a mother-in-law seated next to the son-in-law at a beach in a bikini against a lady showing bare breasts at a traditional ceremony.

“Why are we allowing ourselves to be dictated to as to what to how our culture should be? Why should people go to N’cwala if I don’t go and see big breasts. I won’t go there, you can keep the N’cwala,” he said.
