Successful callboy speaks out

SANFROSSA MANYINDA writes

I have been working as a call boy at Intercity Bus Terminus for 16 years now and I am managing to take care of my family, a man of Lusaka’s Garden house compound has said.

Mr. Rennix Chikoyi, 41, said that he started his work as call boy in 2003 after he graduated from college where he was studying human resource management.

Mr. Chikoyi said that he had no choice but to start working as call boy when he realized that no company was willing to employ him.

He said that he has been saving the money every day for the children and his wife, the move he said has made him survive.

“My first daughter, is 21, is doing registered nurse training at one of the nursing schools in the country. The other three are also in school and I have no problem in paying school fees. I struggle and I manage,” he said.

He said was unable to say exactly how much he earned in a day because it always fluctuated as sometimes he went home with nothing.

The father of 4 explained that he has built a proper house out of his work, stressing that he now did not have to struggle with rentals.

Mr. Chikoyi further advised people not to always wait on white collar jobs when there were many opportunities out there.
