By PRINCE MABUMBA

THE Mobile Money Business Association has said that mobile money transactions have recorded an increase in the country according to the report released by the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA).

In an interview, the Association’s president Mr Pamfred Hasweeka however stated that there is still need to create a conducive business environment for the mobile money operators.

Mr. Hasweeka explained that the mobile money operators have been very instrumental in the country’s financial inclusion but still face many challenges such as access to financing.

He said it is for this reason that the association launched an empowerment scheme to boost their operations.

He said the empowerment programme will enable the operators to make the sector grow and contribute to the economic growth of the country.

“Operators are doing a great job in the country’s economic growth. This sector is making the financial inclusion to be a success.

So we are appealing to corporate partners to come on board and ensure that they provide assistance as it will be crucial to growing the business,” he said.
