A garden boy employed by a Chinese in Kitwe is on the run after allegedly stealing a pistol with 49 rounds of ammunition from his employer on Monday around 13:00 hours at Mable Flats in Riverside residential area.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the incident which happened on Monday.

Mr Mweemba said He Zong reported that his firearm , a pistol Taurus White and Black in Colour with 49 rounds of ammunition was stolen by an unknown person, but strongly suspected his garden boy identified as Kellys Chowa.
“I can confirm that we have a case where a garden boy identified as Kellys Chowa is on the run after allegedly stealing a Pistol from his employer who happens to be a Chinese national. The incident happened when Zong was shifting from his flat to casino area.
“Mr Zong has asked the security guard and Chowa to help him pack his properties to the vehicle and when they finished packing, he took some goods for off loading. At this point , he discovered that a security box that had the firearm with 49 rounds of ammunition, two magazines and a firearm licence had gone missing,’’ Mr Mweemba said
Mr Mweemba said, after realising that the fire arm with 49 rounds of ammunition, two magazines and a firearm licence had gone missing, he called the two who were helping him to pack the household goods to inquire if they had seen the box, and it was at this point that Chowa ran away.
“The matter was reported to the police who later visited the scene of crime and interviewed the guard, who confirmed that after being questioned,Chowa instead left the place before knocking of time and never returned,’’ he said
