A MOBILE money Agent has found himself in hot soap after he went missing with K5, 000 cash money meant for a float.
This is a matter in which Fedrick Kaluba, 24, of Matero did steal K5, 000 cash, a phone and two sim cards property of Mutale Moomba without any lawful authority.
The accused appeared in the Lusaka magistrate court before magistrate Changa Chitabo and admitted the charge.
Kaluba told the court he took the money because he wanted to pay hospital bills for his sick mother who is currently in hospital and also pay rentals and buy food for the family for he was a breadwinner.
“ Yes, I admit to the charge, I took the money because I had no option but to solve my problems, unfortunately I am here and I don’t know how and where my mother is, I don’t even know if she is dead or alive,’’ he said.
Mutale Moomba, 34, a business man of Matero who is the complainant in this matter said it was on April 1, 2021 when he was looking for an agent to work in his booth and his friend directed him to Kaluba who he knew had experience in the business.
Mr Moomba then handed Kaluba K5, 000 cash as a starter pack, a phone and two sim cards so he could start the business immediately.
However, the man disappeared with all the cash money, a phone and two sim cardS he was given by his boss.
In mitigation, Kaluba begged the court to have leniency on him saying he will never repeat what he did and was just a mistake.
The court heard his plea and sentenced him to eighteen months imprisonment with hard labour.
