In this case, Kambwili has been put on his defence for allegedly calling President Lungu a dog from Chawama.
Kambwili was yesterday scheduled to open his defence before High Court Judge Lameck Mwale, who sits as Chief Resident Magistrate in the matter, but when the case was called he was not present and neither were his lawyers or representative.
Mr. Justice Mwale said it was regrettable to note that Kambwili and his lawyers were absent and no reason was given for their absence.
He said the case record showed that they were aware of yesterday’s date but deliberately chose to stay away.
He said such behavior must not be allowed and it must be the last time it happened.
Mr. Justice Mwale said the next time it happens the court will be compelled to take appropriate action against Kambwili after which he adjourned the case to August 18, 2021.
