POLICE in Mpika are looking for a man only identified as Musakanya for allegedly raping and stealing from a 21 year old restaurant attendant, Muchinga Province Commissioner of Lizzy Machina has confirmed.
Ms Machina said the incident occurred happened on Friday around 20:00 hours near Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church along Great North road.
Ms Machina identified the victim as Precious Tembo 21 of Chitulika Village in Chief Chikwanda’s who reported that she was allegedly raped by a male suspect only identified as Musakanya of Tafique Area in Mpika.
“Brief facts are that, on Friday at around 20:00 hours Precious Tembo who stays in Chitulika Compound, knocked off from the Restaurant at Bus Station. On her way home, she met male Musakanya at Pentecostal Assemblies of God Church area who proposed love to her. She refused but he later got hold of her on the neck, pulled her down whilst he was holding her neck and overpowered her. He went ahead and raped her,” she said.
Meanwhile, a 36 year old woman of Chama district has been left homeless after her husband burnt her house to ashes.
Ms Machina said the incident occurred on Friday at around 23:00 hours at Kakoma village in Chief Kambombo’s area.
Ms Machina said the victim identified as Melise Mvula 36 of the stated that her husband Mathews Ng’uni of the same village burnt her grass thatched house completely to ashes.
She said property valued at K5, 000 has been gutted in the infernal.
“Brief facts are that, the complainant is in a polygamous marriage of two wives, herself being the first wife to their husband (suspect). On Friday at around 23:00 hours, the two wives had a confrontation. In the process, the husband set her house ablaze and burnt to ashes. Motive behind the act is not yet known,” she said.
