Namibian deported from Zambia

The Choma Magistrates Court has ordered for the deportation of a Namibian national who illegally entered the country without documentation.

Kanime Kondejeni 42, received a 6 months imprisonment sentence but suspended for 12 months from Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri in a matter he was charged with Illegal Entry into the Country contrary to the Immigrations and Deportations Act of the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that Kondejeni, on January 28 entered Zambia through the Katima Mulilo Border control without authority or documents.

When he appeared before Court to take plea, Kondejeni who is a businessman admitted the charge and explained that he came into Zambia to buy cosmetics and was apprehended on his way back from Lusaka to Katima Mulilo.

According to the Facts stated by Public Prosecutor Pearson Chilumbu, Kondejeni was apprehended in Batoka aboard a public transport vehicle by immigration officers after mounting a check point.

Magistrate Phiri noting his mitigation , passed the sentences and ordered that he be deported to his country of origin forthwith.
