Fraudulent vehicle deal lands man in court

A Lusaka man has been dragged to court on allegations of fraudulent dealings of motor vehicle.

This is   in a matter before magistrate Chinunda Chiwaula where Godfrey Kabunka is accused of stealing a mafer from a truck belonging to Chimwemwe Kaunda.

Cathbet Khosa a police officer said he was allocated a docket of fraudulent dealing of motor vehicle on July 6, 2020 and instituted investigations into the matter.

He said Chimwemwe Kaunda 37 of Lukudo farm  reported that known people namely Davis Kalumba and Godfrey Kabunka stole a mafer from his truck.

He said the  two suspects were apprehended by the complainant with the assistance of the police officers.

He said he found that there was an exchange of the phone between Kalumba and Kabunka for the mafer.

He said Kabunka gave the phone to Kalumba as part of payment of the mafer.

He said he interviewed Kabunka  and Kalumba about he missing mafer and when they did not give him a satisfactory answer, he charged and arrested them for the offence of fraudulent dealing of motor vehicle.

However when asked about the whereabouts of Kalumba by counsel representing Kabunka, the officer said he was not aware of Kalumba’s whereabouts.
