Out of anger to avenge his married girlfriend’s promiscuous behavior, a 28 years old businessman of Choma decided to take her cell phone as revenge, and he will serve 6 months in jail for his action.

This was in a matter in which Choolwe Miyoba appeared before the Choma Magistrates Court charged with one count of Theft contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

Particulars of the offence are that Miyoba on January 11, 2021 in Choma stole a Tecno phone valued at K2, 050 the property of his alleged girlfriend Ruth Syati.

When he appeared for plea before Resident Salie Kanunka, the accused person admitted the charge and stated that he was angered after learning that his girlfriend was a married woman and hence stole the phone to punish her.

But according to the facts read by the state, Miyoba stole the phone when the complainant requested that he helps her to look for a house. It was during the inspection of the house that Miyoba requested to use the complainant’s phone and after she gave him he walked outside and disappeared in thin air.

Miyoba was later apprehended and taken to the Police where he disclosed to have sold the gadget at K1, 500 and received a down payment of K500.

Despite him also stating that he is a married man with two children in Lusaka, Magistrate Kanunka slapped him with 6 months imprisonment with hard labour in order to deter other would be jealousy men.
